The high schoolers were treated to a Razorback stampede in the college
races at Missouri Southern's 12th edition of the Southern Stampede. After
the Arkansas Razorbacks finished with a perfect score of 15 it was
the high school divisions turn at the 5,000m race.
The West Plains Zizzers made easy work of the course scoring their top 5 runners in the top 22 positions. West Plains Amanda Marcak ran a patient but steady race and pulled away for the 18:32 win. Clinton's Ashley Sanders led for most of the way before falling to second in 18:49.
The boys race was extremely tight as West Plains boys beat the Mountain Home, Arkansas squad 37-55. Despite a 1-2-5-25-26 finish, the Bombers could not overcome West Plains depth. They went 3-4-8-9-13. Mountain Home's Eric Gross pulled away early running 4:52 for the first mile and 9:50 for the second mile split. Mountain Home's Logan Thomas held off some hard charging Zizzers to finish in second with a 15:53.
