Western Girls Sweep 2 Mile

Anita Siraki CA, Alicia Craig WY, and Sara Bei CA gave the far West a 1-2-3 sweep of the FLO girls 2 Mile race and acted like teammates after.  Anita Siraki even spoke of how she wants to win, but feels bad for people she beats.   One of the pre-race favorites, Shalane Flanagan MA, had an 8-hour flight delay and barely got to Raleigh in time for the race.  She led through the first mile, but dropped out after five laps, saying she had no energy.

Anita Siraki 10:18.03

"West" team: 3. Sara Bei, 2. Alicia Craig, 1. Anita Siraki

How the race was run:

the start

Flanagan-de la Vina-Wale lead pack through lap 1

Flanagan still leads thru lap 3, but Siraki (far left) moves up

After a mile, Flanagan draws clear, but Siraki is now 2nd

Lap 5 stretch: Siraki now leads, Flanagan 2nd

Lap 6 stretch: Siraki cruising, Craig 2nd, Flanagan out

Siraki 10:18.03

Craig 10:22.34
Bei 10:28.32
