the Distance Gods

The Distance Gods are Back!

The resurgence of distance running in the year 2000 reminds some of the glory days of Steve Prefontaine, Craig Virgin, Jeff Nelson and many more.  It has inspired Stephen Underwood, a self-confessed track nut from Georgia (familiar as "steveu" to the DyeStat message board audience), to write a series of insightful stories on the boys and girls who are thrilling the nation.  In the days surrounding the Foot Locker Outdoor championships in Raleigh, N.C. on June 16-17, Steve took a closer look at some of the athletes and teams who have made the biggest splashes this year in the mile/1600 and 2-mile/3200.
