A STAR FROM THE PAST -
Richmond Flowers
Richmond Flowers is a home bred Alabama track and football
star who graduated from High School as a National Record Holder in Hurdles.
He went on to the University of Tenneessee and excelled in both track and
football. Some pretty impressive
statistics on Richmond include: NCAA
Indoor Track Champion --60 meter
hurdles--1968; Indoor All American --110 meter hurdles-1968; NCAA 3rd
place outdoor champion in 120 meter hurdles.
He was a Volunteer Letterman in football 1966, 1967, 1968. Richmond went on to play football for the Dallas Cowboys and
then the New York Giants as a defensive back.
Richmond attributes his speed as a football player to
track. "Track helps develop speed
and that what it's all about in football."
His son is following in his footsteps.
Bill Flowers while not feeling well and treated for dehydration on meet
day, came in 6th with a time of 14.39-a time that makes the DyeStat
Elite!
