Faith Christian Invitational

Summary: 122 Athletes from 10 High Schools, and 49 K-8 kids from 3 schools competed Saturday, September 29th in the 3rd annual Faith Christian Invitational and Kids Classic. The day was cool and sunny with a moderate breeze to spice things up as the races took place. The course was flat and fast, with many athletes producing top times. Laguna Creek (of Elk Grove) dominated the meet winning 3 of the 4 individual titles and sweeping the team races.
Varsity Boys: Adam Nacario of Laguna Creek edged out Eric Faires of Wheatland in a 3.2 mile Varsity boys race, winning in a time of 17:38. Center High School of Antelope produced a strong showing with three of the top five individuals in the race and a second place showing in the team standings by just one point. Faires was tops among local athletes with Ben Chance of Marysville scoring the only other local top 10 finish.
Varsity Girls: Meridith Salazar of River Valley held off a strong challenge by Stephanie Carlson of Center and Sarah Fedderson of Marysville to win in a time of 21:41 on the 3.1 mile (5K) course. In the team race, Division I Laguna Creek edged out Division III Marysville 26-29.
JV Boys: Alex Lozano of Laguna Creek won the JV Boys race by a comfortable margin, covering the 2.4 mile course in 14:08. Gridley performed well, placing runners second and fourth. New school Christo Rey of Sacramento placed Edwin Sanchez third, while Justin Brasseau of River Valley rounded out the top 5.
JV Girls: Laguna Creek again scored the individual victory with Marissa Coburn winning the individual title in the 2.4 mile race with a time of 17:28. River Valley followed with an impressive 6 of the top 9 runners in the race, led by Steffani Ramsey, Jessica Mills, and Angelica Baker.
