The DeAnza League held its 1st cluster meet in Big Bear at 7000 ft. Snow Summit was the site and temperatures were ideal for running. However, the course & the altitude slowed the league considerably and placing was the only thing that mattered.

On the boys side, Big Bear showed no mercy to any competitor and pounded the rest of the league into oblivian. A quick 19 pts. sent the message that 2nd place was up for grabs. Desert Mirage, Desert Hot Springs, Yucca Valley & 29 Palms battled each other to get a grip on the remaining spots. When the race was done, Desert Mirage & Desert Hot Springs took the early lead on 2nd & 3rd. The Rams scored 68, the Eagles 76, with the Trojans at 85, & the Wildcats at 114. Alberto Solis took individual honors followed by his teammate Brennen Halliday.

The girls side saw the Trojans caputure the top honors, scoring 36 pts. to Big Bear's 42 pts. The Wildcats of 29 Palms leaped into 3rd with 57 pts. Yucca placed 4 in the top 9, but had a difficlut time finding a 5th runner to round out the scoring. Eventually a 17th place finish allowed the trojans to escape Big Bear with a win. Katarina Ratkowiak placed 1st by a 1:25 sec over the nearest competitor.

The JV Boys were completely dominated by Big Bear. 16 of the top 18 runners belonged to the hometown favorites.

There were not enough JV Girls to produce team scoring.
