Seaside Oregon "Three Course Challenge"
Three
Course Challenge - Oregon The Sacred Heart Cathedral cross country team made the trip to Oregon for the Three Course Challenge. This was our second time to this unique meet (we previously went in 2004), that features three different courses – an easy, a moderate, and a hard. Varsity athletes draw to see which course they run. The moderate and hard courses go through a mud pit, that left everyone pretty wet and muddy. The Irish Girls placed 4th in our division while the boys were 5th. All in all, we took 40 athletes and 5 coaches on the trip. We flew from San Francisco to Portland and then took a bus to Seaside. The host school is Seaside HS and they have things worked out so you can have a pre-meet spaghetti dinner at the high school on Friday and then stay in the barracks at Camp Rilea Friday night. They even have a dance for the athletes at Camp Rilea on Friday night so you get to know the other athletes/teams. The meet itself is at Camp Rilea, so it is quite convenient to wake-up and already be at the meet. It’s a unique and memorable experience and I recommend it to any teams that can make the trek. Coach Neil Branson and his crew at Seaside HS do a terrific job. Almost 100 teams and 2254 finishers. 2008 Meet Date September 20th Division 1 - Boys Moderate Division 2 Girls Easy Divison 1
