Heading quickly through the meadow and toward the steep climbs, Acalanes' Mo Huber (blue shorts,
left photo) and Oakland's Thomas Dileo (leader, right photo) pulled away for 2-mile victories across
the challenging terrain mapped out at Joaquin Miller Park, considered the slowest layout in the state!

Oakland, CA -- Last week was a record setting race. This week Mo Huber from Acalanes High School pulled a Mighty Mo as in the battleship Missouri. Huber served notice with a 12:51.0 clocking of the tough Joaquin Miller 2 mile course. Mo bested Lexi Pappas' week long record by some...get this... get the calculator... 35.5 seconds, wow! 12:51... It's superb.
Thomas Dileo got a solid solo effort as he lead Oakland High's top four runners to finish in the top five. I guess you could call these guys "Four Brothers", you have senior Thomas Dileo, and his brother junior Jimmy Dileo (4:33.81 -1600 last year), and junior twins (identical) John and Paul Cheng. John Cheng set a 14-15 age group record with a fine 11:33.0 time.
Kaitlyn Spees set a 11-13 age group record of 15:42.0. Guy Railsback took over a minute off the men's over 60 year old, record running a fine 18:16. Jackie Quinn ran a solid 14:00 to improve by over 48 seconds and get on the all-time top 10. Matt Duffy of St. Marys got going with a mile victory and came back with a 12:16 2 mile run. Kai Wilson won the girls mile and last week set an 11-13 record at 6:41.8, ran 6:44 today. Sahail Brown set the new record in the women's masters mile in 8:17.4. Six year old Maya Hinkston remained undefeated in the young girls race with a 9:24.0 run today.
Special thanks to Craig Stern and San Marin HS for all the drinks. Albany HS came through with a digital clock for the finish line, thank you. Thanks to all our helpers and volunteers, Doug Owyang, Doyle O'Regan, Riki Owyang, Roni Owyang, Belma Markarivic, Tu Vo, Jahan Sparks. Thanks for participation, and see you next year.
