We wanted to break it for HIM." --

Bill Sumner informed us weeks ago that his
top-ranked in the U.S. girls team would cruise through the Mt. SAC Invite
in favor of saving for a nice peak at season's end. Even so, they cruise
FAST!
Their 92:42 clocking, while wearing trainers and running in groups in
the early
going before seemingly allowed to gear it up a tad along the hills,
is the 8th-fastest
team time since course renovations were made in 1999. Wait till November!!

What it takes to
put on the biggest XC meet:
200+ volunteers... 5,000 retail
t-shirts...
19,000 race bibs... 76,000 safety pins...
A 17'x22' jumbotron.... and more!
Runners will combine
to log more than 50,000 miles
at Mt. SAC this weekend... twice the circumference
the Earth! Now that's a lot of mileage for one meet!

"I'm in
14:19 shape!"

El Camino HS senior standout A.J.
Acosta, the top returnee
from last year's FootLocker Nationals, says he's in super shape.
In fact, he says he's ready to take down the 14:28 course record.
In fact, he says he's ready to run 14:19!!! If you listen to one of the
Mercado Brothers, he'll have to! "At least 14:19, because we're
going 14:13," quipped Diego Mercado later that morning.
Trashtalking? Truth? We'll find out on Saturday!!!
