Desert Sky League Finals

Southern Section

The Desert Sky League Finals were ran today in very windy and cool conditions. In the girls race it was a great race for the team title as there was only 30 points separating the top 4 schools. Hard to tell who was going to win until they were into the last mile.
Burroughs (Ridgecrest) pulled out the win with Barstow getting second place. Jeanette Lindstrom had a 20 second lead at the mile mark, went through at 6:14, and was never challenged for the win.

In the boys race two Barstow boys took it out hard in 4:46 for the first mile. Sam Melton maintained that momentum and won the race in 15:20, winning by 46 seconds. The team race was never in question as Barstow took the top four spots and had their seventh runner finish in 9th. The won the team title with 17 points. Second was Granite Hills with 56 points who were led by Nick Kelley, the first non-Barstow finisher.
