Humboldt-Del Norte Area Meet #4
Thursday, October 14, 2004 @ Community Forest (NCS)
Arcata teams come through to pull off team sweep!

event: Humboldt-del Norte League meet no. 4
date: 14 October 2004
site: Community Forest, Arcata, California
weather: clear, calm, 22°
distance: 4,78km
course: 1,73km up, 1,34km loop with slight
grades, 1,71km down. 4,3km of 2m wide loamy or
rocky double track, 0,5km asphalt. Shaded.
Course approximately 3% slower than Woodward
Park.

The fourth instalment of the Humboldt-del Norte
League meets saw the continuing strength of
Arcata (d. 4) on both the boys and girls side,
despite neither team fielding its strongest
squad. Yasmine White, who recently executed
18:38 at the Clovis Invitational, dominated from
the whistle and won by nearly 500m. Fortuna’s
(d. 4) Jesse Palmer had a tougher time of it,
holding off Arcata’s Cat Corrigan in the final
2km to win by 25m in 17:28. South Fork’s (d. 5)
impressive freshman Rocket Carl continued to move
up in the league, finishing fourth in 18:12, just
off of the shoulder of McKinleyville’s (d. 4)
recovering senior Nathan Ihle.

This writer apologizes for misplacing team times.
Arcata’s boys, who were missing their no. 2 to a
mild ankle sprain, were in the mid 1:33s, while
their girls were in the high 1:46s. Both teams
were substantially ahead of any other schools.
