Santa Margarita made a return trip to the Big Apple (head coach Dave Zeitler has family/coaching
ties in the area) and Edison High -- also of Orange County -- made its own return trip after a multi-year
hiatus. Here, mebers of the varsity teams show off their hardware. The Eagles won their divisional race
while Edison placed second to local power Northport in its race.

 
Edison frontrunner Joe Gatel has been sidelined with a recent bout of shin splits,
but Chargers sophomore Jayson Hayes (left) has filled in nicely for the squad.

Quick trivia: Who might be the best husband/wife coaching combination in the Southern Section
this year? It could very well be Jim (boys coach) and Carrie Roldan (girls coach) at Edison High.
Both teams are on the fringe of the CIF-SS Division II rankings, where depth is impressive this year!

Edison's Whitney Lopez (left) and sisters Candace and Nicole Alai were among those battling
in the lead pack at Sunken Meadow State Park, with the Chargers holding their positions better
than the competition in winning the team title! Edison is seeded 11th in CIF-SS Division II this week!
