In addition to the varsity's sixth-place showing
in the 21-team field, the Apaches also shined at the lower levels (above).
Kazuya Koda, Andrew Pilavgian and Daichi Kohawa
(l-to-r) were all Top 10 placers at the lower levels.
Arcadia boys, led by seniors Lino Almeida (#768)
and Jon MacNeil (#779), moved up well in the latter stages
of the race, helping secure a sixth-place finish in a race won by 9th-ranked
nationally Eisenhower of Washington.
Literally just seconds before the gun went off,
Arcadia High's junior varsity team had the poise and
courtesy to grant this last-minute photo op with it hindering their focus.
The Apaches, who appeared
to come out conservatively in the opening portion of the challenging 3.1-mile
course, then closed
extremely well in the final stages to earn a seond-place finish in the
junior varsity division. Nice strategy!
William Vinopal and Daniel Miller (l-to-r) were
integral scorers in Arcadia's JV effort.
Junior Joe Wang is closely followed by a pair
of teammates as he approaches the finish, with
the beautiful Hawaii scenery in the background.
