Iolani Invitational

Saturday, September 22 at Kualoa Ranch, HI (5k)

Picture Page - Island action!

Eisenhower High of Washington dominated the varsity boys race by placing 5 in the top 7, winning with
19 points and moving up to #9 in the latest national rankings! Junior Robbie Barany (l-to-r), senior Charles Cummings,
senior Chuy Chavez, junior Victor Dominguez, senior Kevin Blount, junior Victor Palma, sophomore Stephen Englund
and an unidentified runner (#847) gather for a victory shot. Washington has a deep crew of powerful teams in 2003!

Arcadia High sophomore T.J. Bacic was among the hundreds of runners signing the "Aloha Banner"
during the Friday night pasta feed held at Iolani's beautiful campus. At right, Ukiah senior Shelby Leland
comments to the media after a stunning winning performance along the hills of Kualoa Ranch!

Even from the steps of a local liquor store, the scenery seems to be pristine at every stop in Hawaii!

Arcadia High had one of the meet's largest traveling turnouts, with Coach Jim O'Brien's Southern California
crew represented by 21 athletes, one coach, and several willing chaperones! The JV team won its division
while the varsity team placed 6th among 21 squads in a very competitive field.
