Rubidoux boys still reign
in Sunkist League,
Sunkist League Results/Summary The King Girls won the second Sunkist League contest of the season to remain undefeated. Christina Olivas, the sole runner for Bloomington led from start to finish and ran a course record 17:54. King was led by a tandem of Megan Fairley and Kristina Moore, but had a strong pack that included Carly Sjogren and newcomer Jodi Mettler (9th grader) and Bridget Gonzalez. Together the team ran 98:47 team time.
The Rubidoux boys continued their dominance of the league with a strong second half, pulling away from King who gave chase early but faded a bit in the last 2000 meters. 9th grader Edwin Ortiz of Rubidoux ran an incredible race, moving steadily up through the field throughout the course, eventually finishing 6th overall, far ahead of his placing at the mile. Francisco Manzo of Norte Vista ran strong and led throughout.
