Indio Teams Sweeps Races!

Course: Flat Grass, Cement 3.0 miles

The second DVL meet was a little warmer than expected, and that helped to keep the times a little slow. The athletes still raced extremely hard, with Joel Cota and Jose Mancillas from Indio topping the boys side. The team battle is really heating up as Indio won this meet, and Coachella Valley took 1st in the first DVL meet. It will come down to meet 3 for us to find our champion.

On the girls side, Indio proved why they are the best around. Denise Vega (I) fell hard halfway through the race, and still managed to get up for 6th place. Her teammate Vanessa Saavedra (I) showed a lot of poise holding off Palm Desert's Janie Gibbs for the win. Alyssa Cota (I) came in for third, and Benita Valdez of Desert Hot Springs was a surprising 4th. Indio still took 1st, Coachella 2nd, and Cathedral City held on for third (Had a disqualified runner.) Can't wait til Nov 5th!
