Girls Div I

El Camino junior Sariah St. Laurent took the race out hard, and never faltered as she upset section favorites Dani Schuster (16:41-2nd) of Torrey Pines, and Rancho Bernardo's Lindsay delaMontaigne (6th - 16:59). Winning the coveted girls division one crown in a fine time of 16:31 over the 2.7 mile very difficult CIF course at Morley Field. Freshman teammate Mariana Monasi was equally astonishing finishing third in 16:50. Poway's freshman duo of Jessica Beard 9th -17:04 , and Kristina Kelly 12th-17:12 also made noteable impressions individually. In the team race, season long favorite Torrey Pines-93 won joining them at state will be Fallbrook-101, and Rancho Bernardo-108.

Boys Div I

I was amazed when Vista senior Nicholas Salomone cruised through the finish line hardly out of breath, animately talking with fellow competitors, and media alike. When asked why don't you appear tired he replied "I, we are peaking right now, and coach Brooks has done a phenominal job preparing us all year. Last week we did 800 repeats all under 2:20 with little rest". "I also would like to thank my dad for all of the visualization techniques he has taught me.". Nicolas also has a 3.9 GPA, hobbies include shaping clay, pottery, andmaking ceramics , he hopes to attend Whittier College next year.
In the team race Torrey Pines used tactical pack running to squeak out a victory over Vista by one point 94-95, with Rancho Buena Vista earning the third spot with a score of 107.

Girls - Eagles Rethmeier, and Scott out early - The ever so awesome eagles from San Pasqual went 1,2,3,6,15 (27) to easily defeat runner up Helix-69, and Scripps Ranch-85. Junior Claire Rethmeier won handily in 16:04, followed by teammates Lorin Scott 16:22, and Kerby Brooke 16:38. Santana's Erin Price was 4th-16:40, and Helix;'s Jaime Marliere was 5th-16:49.
