Led by league champion Alex Enscoe, Berkeley won its first ACCAL title in
the league’s current alignment, denying Alameda its third-straight league
win. Enscoe’s surge over the last half of the race gave him an easy
30-second win on the tough and hilly course and Berkeley packed its top five
in the first eight finishers in essentially a dual with Alameda. Berkeley
looks to make some noise in Division I, while Alameda, led by senior Yoji
Richert will try its hand in the Division II race at NCS.

year. Led by two-time league champion Corinne Roberts and transfer Kristin
Wheeler, the Hornets have the horses, including a bevy of frosh-soph talent,
to make the Division I race interesting.

8. Conrad Murphy 10 Head Royce 16:29
9. Sean Grimm 12 Berean Christian 16:34
10. Paul Aurich 11 College Prep 16:36

College Prep, led by individual champion Fisher, pretty much had its way
with the recently divided BCL. Head Royce, who had kept close to Berean
Christian during the league season, was without its No. 4. Fisher is among a
group of three or four poised to challenge for the Division V crown.

Girls:
Team Scores:
1. Berean Christian 39
2. College Prep 41
3. Bentley 71
4. Head Royce 82

Individuals:
1. Whitney Jacobsmeyer 12 Berean Christian 18:14
2. Christina Soinski 9 Bentley 18:18
3. Amanda Maccario 10 Berean Christian 19:40

8. Alicia Sandiford 10 Contra Costa Christian 19:56
9. Phoebe Hasley 12 Head Royce 20:11
10. Breen Byrnes 12 College Prep 20:24

Though College Prep was third in the regular season, they nearly upset
league heavy Berean Christian. Despite only putting five on the starting
line, College Prep packed five in the top 12. Jacobsmeyer has had a good
season thus far, leading Berean to a league title, but the real surprise may
be the freshmen from Bentley, a first-year school in Lafayette.

Bay Counties League - West
Wednesday, Nov. 13
Golden Gate Park

8. Nat Zingg 12 University 18:16
9. Alexx Campbell 12 University 18:23
10. David Lee 9 University 18:31

University’s depth was on display here, cramming it’s top six runners in the
top 10 of a good field. Neely and Gaudette are two of the best in Division V
with Neely establishing himself as the man to beat with his huge win here.

Girls:
Team Scores:
1. University 28
2. Lick Wilmerding 65
3. Urban 75
4. Convent 77
5. Crystal Springs Upland 111

Individuals:

8. Sally Tracy 11 University 22:01
9. Morgan McGovern 9 Convent 22:05
10. Olivia Kenna 12 SF Waldorf 22:45

Same story here as University owns the deed to the BCL title. The Red
Devils aren’t as dominate as they have been in years past, but coach Jim
Tracy’s squad is young and still very dangerous. Urban’s Ariane Burwell was
clear of the field by nearly a minute, establishing her as one of the
Division V favorites.

Falcons finisher was just ahead of its Cougar counterpart. The Falcons 2-5
gap was just 22 seconds. Allen, one of the best in the section, defeated
defending Division III champion Saura, who appears to be returning to
postseason form.

content to let Leal run out front and concern themselves with the rest of
the field.

Purcell pulled away from Wright and Phillips with 1200 meters left to earn
her first league win. Wright was equally impressive, holding off Phillips.
Castro Valley had an off day and could not overcome O'Dowd’s 1-2 punch. The
Dragons now have the tough task of making noise in a strong Division III
race, while Castro Valley looks to regroup in the Division I race.

10. Joe Wolfe 12 Eureka 18:05

No big surprises here as Arcata packed four runners in the top eight to
unseat Eureka for the first time since 1993. Figueiredo was clearly the
class of the field, running away from Kinnery and Magazzi. Magazzi cut into
Figueiredo’s lead in the final mile but wasn’t quite able to catch him.

9 Aman Gebremichael 10 Tamalpais 18:40

Redwood has owned this league for a while and there was little drama this
year. The Giants shut the door with a 1-2-3 finish and its entire scoring
five placed in the top 10. Terra Linda, a threat in the NCS Division IV,
was the best of the rest. Schmitt ran well, missing the course record by 10
seconds.

9. Carli O’Leary 10 San Marin 22:18
10. Robin Hextrun 10 Tamalpais 22:26

On a course that runs 90 seconds slower than Woodward Park, Marin Catholic’s
Nicci Fish was a revelation in her course-record win. The Wildcat senior
won by nearly two minutes over a pair of teammates. The Wildcats have
avoided high-profile races this year, but are a real Division IV threat. A
young Redwood team edged defending champion San Marin for second.
