Clairemont junior Judy Jimenez who qualified individually for state
as a freshman went wire to wire, and was never seriously challenged. Teammate
Sara Rodriquez also ran a strong race finishing third helping the cheiftans
to the runner-up team title.
Perrenial league champion Coronado defended their title again,with a strong
performane by junior Beth Wittry, Usually solid teammate Katherine Wingert
, was ill and appeared sluggish finishing a distant fourth.

Coronado completed the team sweep in the boys race with their #1 Jake
Ruzevick winning the league title, and 2002 Harbor league MVP honors.
Kudos to Crawford who has assembled quite a good team this year, after
losing star Idrise Osman by inter-district transfer to San Diego H.S.
last year. Sophmores Pedro Kubelis, and Ansel Estrada ran very impressively
side by side throughout but were never close enough to Ruzevick to pose
any real threat.
