City Western League Results
Morley Field 3.0 Miles - Moderately difficult - Warm
Mandy Beatty (Scripps Ranch) took the race out for the first mile, with
Jessie Ooms (University City) and Molly O'Toole (USDHS) drafting close.
Midway through the race Ooms overtook the lead with O'Toole falling off
the lead pack. Beatty hung on but never really threatened senior Jessie
Ooms who looked calm and steadfast, leading University City in yet another
stellar race performance and victory.
Scripps Ranch's number two through four runners (Amanda Cummings, Natalie
Gattrell, and Lindsay Slover) ranexceptionally well stepping it up a notch
behind Beatty.

In the boys race, defending league champion Sean Barret (Saint Augustine)
coming off his league record run of 15:11 last week. Looked confident
in running wire to wire in 15:21, once again taking out the legs of all
opponents early with a blistering 4:49 first mile. Barrett has run wisely
this year picking his spots, and appears to be 100% healthy going into
the CIF-State-Footlocker run. With the Southern Section getting so much
more pub, look for this Saint to earn a christening in weeks to come !
Hoover seniors Yilikal Assefa 15:39, and Yafet Abraha 16:09 ran lifetime
PR's. Three Freshman also had remarkable performances. Ahmed Osman (younger
brother of San Diego H.S. star Idrise) ran an amazing 16:18 in just his
third race ever !. Saint Augustine's Marco Anzure 16:29, and University
City's Riley Booker 16:19 to help UC to a double victory today.
