PAC 5 Midseason Meet
10/17/02 Talley Vineyard in Arroyo Grande

The PAC 5 is a newly formed league consisting of Arroyo Grande,
Atascadero, Paso Robles, Righetti, and San Luis Obispo.
Thursday afternoon was cool and clear in rural Arroyo Grande. The girls'
varsity race saw San Luis Obispo packed just behind the leaders. They
held
their pack well through about 1.5 miles into the race. With a half mile
to
go Rachel Valliere and Jenna Kingma accelerated into the lead and finished
together in 20:08. Placing 5 runners in the top ten, SLO girls won the
team
race with 24 points followed by Arroyo Grande with 51 points. In the
varsity boys' race, SLO boys displayed the same tactics as the SLO girls.
Dan Nunn eventually broke from the pack to win in 15:55. SLO had 5 runners
in the top 12 to score 35 points. Arroyo Grande squeaked by Paso Robles
with 62 pts, to Paso's 63pts.
