Girls: " The girls race was run under the best conditions we have ever
encountered...cool, light breeze, sunshine...perfect day! We asked our
#3-4 varsity runners to "step up" and take the race out today (we
rested #1-2,5-7 today) Kelsey and Shadee' worked closely together
through 2 miles when Kelsey broke away and ran a scorching last mile to
post a new stadium/course record. It was a perfect race for a young
lady who has had some tough running experiences over the past year...she
deserved her day in the sun. It was a great race day "all-around" for
our team... many personal bests today."

Boys: "This race was the best overall (depth-wise) dual meet I have
witnessed ,to date. The D-3 defending State Champs (Barstow) looked
very impressive and ready for another shot at the State title in 2002.
Barstow finishing 5 in the top 7 was expected, but Sultana runners
posted some truly remarkable times, as well. All 7 varsity Sultana
runners posted personal bests today! With all 14 runners breaking 17:00
and 11 breaking the 16:00 barrier...unheard of in most high school -
dual meet settings. A loss to Barstow in this way...yes, I will take
that any day. Our training is bringing this "no name" group of Sultans
to some notoriety and they aren't stopping here. *Note: Only 2 of the 7
Sultana varsity actually ran in one varisty race last year...just one!"
