Crescenta Valley Boys and Arcadia Girls Sweep first Pacific All-League Competititon
Chris Snyder (Left) Crescenta Valley and Heather Moulton (right) Arcadia - Individual Pacific League winners - 9/26/02 - Verdugo Park - Glendale Chris Snyder led an impressive 1-2-3 sweep by a highly thought of Crescenta Valley (La Crescenta) team at the first Pacific League All-School meet at Verdugo Park in Glendale 9/26/02. The making of an Eddie Murphy movie was in progress in part of the park so a course change was arranged that was three one mile loops--Eddie was not a spectator for the races, though the food tent set up for the crew was said to have caused a bit more course adjustment. Hollywood rules!!! Anyway, Ben Kennen of Crescenta Valley set the early Boys pace, with Snyder, a 9:28 3200 runner in the spring taking over and moving to a comfortable win by over twenty seconds at 15:22. CV had the #4 Team time at Woodbridge, with Rusty Whisman (#4 runner) just coming back from some calf problems, so they will become tougher in the future. The meet is scored as five duals, with CV obviously 5-0 on the day, with Arcadia 4-1 in second. On the Girls' side, Heather Moulton (Arcadia) set the early pace, with teammate Aarti Jain along, but Jain dropped out with stomach problems along the way. Moulton won at 20:11, with Merritt Kennedy second for Arcadia at 20:50. Jennifer Hughes ended fourth overall for the 5-0 Apaches on the day, with Crescenta Valley next at 4-1. Results Boys
