CCC Double Dual Meet - 9/25/02
@Atwater High School

Modesto, Atwater, Johansen

3.0 miles, flat course, grass and trails. Low 90's.

In the second week of league competition, Modesto boys upped their record to
3-1, dominating Atwater 15-48 and shutting out Johansen 15-50. Atwater got
its first conference win, beating Johansen 17-40. Modesto's Adam Lundeen
was unchallenged down the stretch, winning in 16:52. All of Modesto's top 5
were sub 18. Most of these runners are not seniors so look for Modesto to
be strong for the next few years.

1. Lundeen, M (16:52)
2. Trejo, M (17:15)
3. Perino, M (17:20)
4. Baumgardner, M (17:35)
5. Sarmiento, M (17:45)
6. Banuelos, A (17:57)
7. Chan, M (18:06)
8. Seng, M(18:08)
9. Cummings, M (18:19)
10. Hennings, M (18:25)

On the girls side, Modesto (3-1) and Atwater (2-2) appeared evenly matched,
but Modesto's 5th runner was the difference, leading them to a 27-28
victory. Both squads easily handled Johansen. Atwater's Sophia Leon won
individually, clocking 19:46 for her home course.

1. Leon, A (19:46)
2. Lewis, M (20:12)
3. Imanaka, M (20:14)
4. Gregston, A (21:06)
5. Cimino, M (21:50)
6. Mejia, A (22:52)
7. Amborn, A (23:13)
8. Armendariz, M (23:14)
9. Virgen, M (23:21)
10. Garin, A (23:32)

Looking around the CCC, the Grace Davis boys appear to be the class of the
league. Turlock looks to be the runner-up.

For the girls, Turlock is setting the standard with upstart Ceres looking to
lead the chase pack.

Traditionally a Division 1 league, new CBEDS numbers could affect some of
the schools here. I know Atwater is now Division 2, Golden Valley may also
drop down, Not sure about the rest of the league.
