               hosted by RCC

Thanks to Mike Barbee for the results!

Track season is officially here, and it began with the RCC Heptatlon/Decathlon.
Lance Gonzales of RCC won the decathlon with a school record of 6640 points.
Second place was Mark Horist of Mt. Sac with a score of 5760 points and third

personal records the 100 meters (11.56), high jump (69.75), and the pole vault
(1111.75).  Other strong marks for Lance included the long jump (229) and
the Javelin  (1726).  Lance met the goals we set for him in 8 of the 10 events,
which is promising, especially this early in the season.  He is looking strong this
year, and he should be a big asset to this team with his ability to be very competitive
at the state level in many events, said coach McCarron.

On the womens side, the heptathlon was won by Tiana Wills of RCC with a score
of 3634.   The second place finisher was Tanya Brammer of Mt. Sac with a score
of 3623 points, and the third place finisher was Christina Sagarminaga of Mt. SAC
with a score of 2856 points.   Wills point total places her number 9 on RCCs
all-time list.  Wills trailed Brammer during the first six events, and needed at least
a 13-second margin of victory in the final event, 800 meters, in order to win.
Tiana ran a 2:47, 14 seconds better that than Brammer, and won by 11 points.
