Quotes of the Week
From a long-time East Coast Track Fan about LB Poly at the Penn Relays!
"Well it's over now. I was lucky to meet Bryshon and team mates. Hopefully the pic of me with him
will come out.
He even waved to me on the victory lap. That race (B 4x4 Final) was the greatest thrill
I ever had at a sporting event . My brother has been going to the Penns for 30 plus years and said
that was the greatest relay he's ever seen. Unbelievable!!!!

From Rancho Verde's Brittany Bozeman after the squad made a national level splash
at the Penn Relays, finishing sixth against tough national and international fields in the
Girls 4x100 and 4x400 Relays!
"We know the best is yet to come, we wanted to show everybody we can be competitive."
(to Kirby Lee for the Riverside Press Enterprise)

Alex Kosinski (Oak Ridge, El Dorado Hills) on the importance of good competition
in a record performance:

"
I knew (Hasay) would be really tough competition, I wouldn't have run that fast if she wasn't in the race."
(to Ray Hacke of the Sacramento Bee)

Doug Speck - DyeStatCal Co-Editor at the Sacramento Meet of Champs to Rich Gonzalez
and Mike Kennedy of Track & Field News:

" Where are the fans for this spectacular competiton?  I am amazed at the lack of Northern
California support for these amazing kids on the track.  For two years in a row I have traveled
here and am mystified why folks would not come out to see the meet this year that included
a national record and a ton of other elite level performances!"

Boys Track Coach Justin Price of Sultana HS on the squad's return to Undefeated League Title
status after a runner-up effort in 2006 :

"They (2007 squad) said we don't want to be the team that loses two in a row. I think the biggest
difference betwen this year and last year is we're a team.  Last year we focused more on individuals.
Our Number 1 goal is to take care of team first." \

Soph Chris Schwartz of Foothill HS in Bakersfield who has developed quickly into one of the
fine young runners in the nation, with a 9:08.30 to win the SMOC 3200 as a soph:

Asked what he did between Cross-Country and the Track season to account for his significant
improvement between the fall cross-country and spring track and field seasons: "Basketball, I
was on the basketball team."  (oh well, so much for pounding the roads between seasons!)

Frosh star Ashton Purvis (St. Elizabeth, Oakland) after her SMOC Invite 100m win (she
did not know she had run 11.40, US Prep History's #2 frosh time ever at interview time!!):

"It was fun.  This time I think I had a good start.  I was happy to win the race, and at 60
meters I had a transition and ran faster.  I think I did good!" (slightly my dear, and keep an
eye on the development of this young star!!
