the time the very capable 2006 groups will be chasing!!

Event Preview -
This could be a "knock-down drag-out" battle between the United States and Jamaica that could send both squads under the World Junior Record of 3:27.60 set the US squad in the 2004 Junior World competition. Sub 52.50's for the US available are Jessica Beard (51.89), Brandi Cross (51.96), Nicole Leach (52.27), and Sa'de Williams (52.35).  Jamaica can counter with Sonita Sutherland (51.13), Kaliese Spencer (51.56), Sherene Pinnock (52.68) and hurdler Kaliese Spencer (55.61 with barriers).  The Americans may have a bit more depth, with Ebony Collins (52.66), and already busy sprinters Bianca Knight and Alexandria Anderson capable of fine one lap efforts, but probably having shorter 4x1 baton duties on the finals date.  Russia, the 2004 World Junior silver medalists, China, with a good returning group charged up by the home fans, and Nigeria, with 52.20 star Joy Eze leading, are others who can challenge for the medals.  Australia and the team from the Ukraine lead the rest of the pack in hope of finalist spots.
