If they are not dashing around Europe in August the 5k here could cook!
Tariku Bekele (Ethiopia) left - sits #5 on the World Senior list currently
at 12:53.81, with Commonwealth Games Champ Augustine Choge
(Kenya) right 12:56.41 in the #10 spot worldwide at any level in 2006!

Event Preview -
Kenya and Ethiopia can bring a stunning crew to this contest, with each nation having 6-8 athletes under 13:30 at the 5k distance who are eligible.  Tariku Bekele (Ethiopia) is the #4 5k runner in World Junior History at 12:53.81 from Rome in July of this year, with a third in the 2006 World Junior Cross Country Meet and nice 13:11.97 (in 2004 while 17) and 12:59.03 (05) progression over the last couple of seasons.  British Commonwealth Senior Games Champ earlier this year at 12:56.41, Austine Choge (Kenya), was the 2005 World Junior Cross Country Champ, with a 12:53.66 lst year (#2 AT World Jr) and 12:57.01 best back as far as 2004.  Abreham Feleke (Ethiopia) was 12:54.19 right behind Bekele in Rome in July, with the World Youth 3k Track Champion (8:00.90 final after an impatient 7:53.26 heat) very solid!  Joseph Ebuya (Kenya) has run 12:58.03 this July as the other possibility in the field under the 13:00 barrier!  And we have not even mentioned 2004 World Junior Champ Justus Kipchirchir Kiprono (Kenya) 13:28.93 to win that contest with a 13:16.34 best from that year.  A number of other fine sub-13:50 types from around the world will try to hold on to the up front pack, with the 2004 pacing at about 65 per lap and this year probably a tad faster.
