Nicole Leach wins Semi-Final #1 400mH - Ebony Collins shows up with a
bandage on the front of her thigh - she did not qualify for the finals!

MEN

  • MORNING SESSION
  • Men's Decathlon - Clark 11.19 and Schmidt 11.43 in 100; Schmidt nm and Clark 22-08 in LJ; Schmidt 42-06 and Clark 38-07.50 in SP ; Schmidt 51.58 in 400, Clark did not start; Schmidt 6-08.25 in HJ and Clark did not jump; Schmidt (3,014 points) in 23rd place after Day One, Clark has dropped out.
  • Men's Steeplechase Heats - US out of money against 8:11 types!
  • Men's 400m Hurdle Heats - Chris Carter (51.49 ht win) and Joe Greene 52.75 (4th) move to semi's!!
  • Men's Javelin Throw - Americans out of the money here
  • Men's Hammer - Flight A so far - Water Henning best in world with 1989 BD automatic qualifier!!
  • EVENING SESSION
  • Men's 800m Semi-Finals - no Americans but cooking action! - sub 1:49 needed to go to Finals
  • Men's 400m Semi-Finals - Justin Oliver moves on to the finals - looks of medal quality
  • Long Jump Finals - Atone Belt 26-1 PR to take silver medal!
  • Men's 100m Finals - Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (Great Britain) World Junior Champ
  • Discus Throw Finals - Nick Robinson places 10th to close out great senior year; now off to UCLA!
  • 10,000 Meters - Jake Schmitt takes 17th in the field in 31:38.22; now readies for collegiate XC season!
