First Two in each Heat Plus Next Four fastest Qualify for Semifinals

 

Gordon Mckenzie (US) good start but finished 3rd in 10.74 in Heat 1

Blake Jamaica Heat 2 winner 10.52 -

HEAT ONE (wind +0.9 mps)—Gordon McKenzie of the U.S. and the University of Kentucky got out well but was over taken by Ahmed Akinlawon of Nigeria, who ran 10.54 and Rolf Fongue of Switzerland, who clocked 10.64. McKenzie was third in 10.74 and did not advance.

HEAT TWO (+0.6)—Yohan Blake of Jamaica took the early lead but struggled in running 10.54 to hold of Dayne Le Kay of South Africa and Franklin Nazareno of Ecuador. LeKay clocked 10.63 and Nazareno 10.64, for a national junior record.
