Nikki Wood (Yreka) stars at Mazama (Klamath Falls) Gottschalk's Invite

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. - Junior 200 and 400-meter star Nikki Wood put herself higher in the YHS track record book and earned top female athlete honors at the Mazama Invitational.

Wood became No. 2 in YHS history in the 200 meters with a time of 26.55, and winning the 400 in 58.19 for a meet, stadium and school record.

It all added up to outstanding female athlete of the meet honors for Wood, who is also ranked No. 1 in the North Section for the 400 meters.

The YHS girls also edged West Valley in Cottonwood 69-67.

Wood won the 400, 200 and 100 meters.

Junior Danielle Robberson won the 1600 and 3200 meters and Tanya Bowers was first in the 800 (2:39.21).

Heather Anderson came through with a big win in the shot (29-5-1/2).

West Valley dominated the boys varsity action 98-38.

Syna Eng still had a big day, winning the long jump, 100 and 200 meters.

In JV boys, Brice Peters won the 3200 (11:01.9), 1600 (4:56.2) and the 800 meters (2:14.48).
