Another fun weekend of Track & Field!
44 events at arcadia this weekend - 15 of them feature the #1 mark in America!
25 other efforts were the second best in the nation for 2004!

Meet ended with Shalonda Solomon (LB Poly) anchoring her school's 4x400 group to #5 time in
U.S. History at 3:36.43 and Elzie Coleman (Newburgh Academy, NY) 46.1 4x400 relay anchor,
Ted Ginn (Glenville, Cleveland) 46.8 final leg, and
Derrick Jones (LB Poly) 47.7 in three-abreast
smoker down the fonal straightaway as the packed house of rabid fans oohed and aawed them home!

L.B. Poly's Shalonda Solomon
wins Female Athlete of Meet!
She anchored nat'l record 4x200, nat'l leader 4x400,
anchored 44.95 4x100 and won the 100! WOW!!!

Theo Ginn/Elzie Coleman named
Co-Male Athlete of Meet honorees!
Ginn anchored U.S. leading 4x200 and SMR
also took second in 400 and as 4x400 anchor!
Coleman won the 400, ran 46.1 split on 4x400
anchor, ran great in Friday night's 4x200!

That's the second-most in U.S. history for any one event in one meet, topped only
by the 31 DyeStatElite marks for the 3200-meter race at the 2003 Arcadia Invitational!

2003 National XC champ Katelyn Kaltenbach (Smoky Hill HS)
of Colorado and 2002 National XC champ Zoe Nelson (Flathead HS)
of Montana excited a capacity crowd with an amazing duel, climaxed
with a 10:20.39 to 10:23.70 decision for Kaltenbach! Great race, ladies!!!

Quoteable: "I remember going through and I was like, 'Wow! That’s Zoe Nelson
and that’s Katelyn Kaltenbach and I’m here! This is like the funnest meet ever.
The coolest place ever. It’s just awesome. We ran good and I’m really happy.”

-- Nicole Schappert, third place in the Arcadia Invitational featured 2-mile (10:27.98)
and a member of Pope John Paul High's state record setting DMR crew!!!

Quoteable: "It was awesome. Everyone cheering on each other and we were all
hoping to throw far. I figured I had it won, but then these guys started to come up on me."
-- Nate Rolfe of Inglemoor HS in Washington. Rolfe, a three-year veteran at Arcadia,
popped a lifetime best 204-0 to win the disc, one of his three throws of 200-feet-plus!
