Liberty Christian senior Tim Nelson bolted into the lead with a few laps to go and kept a strong pace en route to his 8:53.59 victory, the fastest state-winning 3200m mark since 1990! Rio Mesa senior Phillip Reid wore down a great group of rivals in the final lap to win in 4:08:49. Only California prep legends Michael Stember, Meb Keflezighi and Ryan Hall have run faster at the year-end meet than Reid did over the last decade! Hot distances!

Two of America's all-time finest clashed at the state meet, with L.A. Baptist senior Allyson Felix prevailing over Long Beach Poly junior Shalonda Solomon each time!

James Logan sophomore Kevin Craddock, who holds the national 15-year-olds record in the 110-meter high hurdles, won his specialty event in 14.09, just .02 off his record! In the girls' long jump, it was Rene Williams of Oakland Skyline who soared 20-8.25 to win!

Merrill West senior Latrise Nunnally goes airborn! She place fourth in 18-10!

Long Beach Poly's girls did it again! The Jackrabbits won a record 8th state title! Congratulations to all the young ladies and to Coach Don Norford and his staff!
