David Nichols (Enterprise, Redding) bombs 62 foot Shot Put!!! (huge improvement)

David Nichols ( Enterprise, Redding) by Todd Shurtleff/NorthstatePrepUpdate.com
We had a dual with Foothill of Redding today in a cold, windy and rain
off and on throughout the meet. The results were pretty good though. Enterprise
won both Varsity team easily but some key marks were:
David Nichols in the shot put at 62'. He had a series of 61'8, 61'2 and
the 62' on his third toss. He doubled back with a 177'8 in the discus
in the rain.
Kenny Frank cruised to an easy win in the 800 in 2:02, then a 400 in 50.1
and tripled with a standing start 200 to win in 23.4! He looked pretty
smooth as he beat his teammate and was smiling crossing the line.
Nichols Shot put was a school record breaking the old mark set 15 years
ago of 59'6 by Roshawn James. Funny thing was, he cut the tip of his finger
on his throwing hand in 4th period PE. I will have a talk with the PE
teacher for a little bit of help on the playing......
ON the girls side we had a freshman win the triple jump in 34'8.5, the
long jump at 15'8 into a strong wind, the 100 at 13.7 into the wind and
the 200 at 27.9. Her name is Lindsey Kirschman and she ran a 59.9 400
a few days back and a 2:18 800 at the Sac meet of champions.
Just a few nice notes from the North Section.
Thanks
Jim Deaver
