Boys Divisions I and III combined 3200.
Columbia University-bound Tyler Kastorff of Dana Hills was the early leader here, with the group across at 1600 in about 4:40. Left-to-right across the front line, that's Canyon's Troy Werner, Crescenta Valley's Ben Kessen, Esperanza's Mike Chavez, Glendora's Sean DiFilippo, Covina's Andrew Tachias, Etiwanda's Mike Poe and Dana Hills' Tyler Kastorff.
With about two laps to go, Esperanza's Mike Chavez have seized the lead, chasing the clock in pursuit of a second berth to Masters (he qualified in the 1600 earlier in the day). Left-to-right, it's Werner, Tachias and San Luis Obispo's Daniel Nunn (black jersey) in position.
In then end, it was Esperanza's Mike Chavez capping a very tough double in Division I, proving his worth as among the state's strongest runners. Chavez lost his duel with Dana Hills' Brandon Babiracki in the 1600 (4:12.27 to 4:13.34), but managed to come back and do plenty od the work late in the 3200 and still win the Division I title there! Chavez, Covina's Andrew Tachias (big improvements in the last month won win the Division III crown!) and Canyon's Troy Werner advanced to the Masters' Meet from this race! Those Canyon Cowboys keep the fine distance tradition in track going for yet another year! Boys 3200 Meter Run Boys Division 1 Finals Boys 3200 Meter Run Boys Division 3 Finals
