Boys Div I
100 - Brian Woods (Los Alamitos) good solid race, with one waiting for Derrick Jones (LB Poly) to make the big move up and past, but with some time time off for an ankle injury he did not seem to have the extra gear today. Time a fine 10.61 for Woods with +1.7 mps behind him with Jones second at 10.87.
200 - Derrick Jones (LB Poly) led into the straightaway, but Brian Woods made the big move this time, with the Los Alamitos star a double winner as he moved past to a 21.41 win (wind +0.6) with Jones 21.54.
400 - Malik Muhammad and Rodney Van of LB Poly were rolling into the homestretch in control of the race, with in the final 50 meters Tony Ramirez (Royal) mounting a super charge that had him rocket up and past to a 48.29 time.

800 - 25.7 opening 200 with Bryan Rhodie and Ian Ritchie of Murrieta together at 54.1 for the 400. Ritchie challenged just before the 600. Edwards Giles of LB Poly exploded at 650 meters and raced to a 1:52.29 win over surprising San Clemente junior Matt Stollenwerk (San Clemente) 1:52.89.

1600 - 32.1 first 200 with Mike Chavez of Esperanza taking over at 65.2 through the 400, with a 1:36.0 600 and 2:07.3 as they accelerated. Chavez had 12 meters at 2:38.4 for the 1000, with the lead stretching to 20 meters to Poe with Chavez 3:09.9 at the 1200. 30 meters to Babiracki and the pack. Brandon showed his wicked kick over the final half lap, racing away to a 4;12.27-4:13.34 win over the Esperanza star.

3200 - Div I and Div III combined - Mike Chavez (Esperanza) again strong on the finish to win over Andrew Tachias (Covina) 9:16.51 and Troy Werner (Canyon, CC) 9:16.72.
HH - Great race, ton of lead changes as pack was very, very tight! Looked like Joseph Christopher from Montclair emerged the winner - 14.58w - wind here +2.1 mps.
300m IH - Entertaining race had Brian Payne (Trabuco Hills) win over Dayne Comrie (Hart) at 37.87-38.07.
400 Re - LB Poly was strong through two legs (11.3 and 10.0). Poly definite leg into the anchor after a 10.8 third leg, with Derrick Jones 9.9 on the anchor for a comfortable win. 1600 Re - LB Poly 49.9 lead-off had a 10 meter lead. 48.6 stretched Poly’s lead to 40 meters. 50.4 on leg 3 had Poly with a 40 meter lead. Poly’s 48.9 had them win comfortably at 3:17.56 with Los Alamitos 3:20.76 next - Derrick Jones did run for Poly.
HJ - Santa Monica junior Tim McGrath struggled a bit at 6-04 (third attempt clearance, but was over 6-06 and 6-08 on his first efforts for the win. Josh Gibson (Canyon Springs, Moreno Valley) had no misses through 6-06 but could not get over 6-08, and soph Walter Thurmond (West Covina) also was able to get over 6-06.
PV - Curtis Hendricks (Marina, Huntington Beach) was clean through 14-06 with no misses. Joshua Lubek of Royal (Simi Valley) came back from three trials at 14-00 and two at 14-00 to make it over 15-00 on his third during a lengthy afternoon to emerge the winner.
LJ - Jeremy Wooldridge (Trabuco Hills) 23-07 (wind +1.5) opener with Brian Paysinger (Wilson, LB) 23-02 (+0.5) on that same try for the two best marks of the division.
TJ - Michael Johnson (Rancho Cucamonga) fine 47-07 (+1.4 mps wind) on his third effort for the victory. Rolando Felizola (Downey) was 47-03.25 (+1.1) on that same effort, with LB Poly’s Dwayne Washington 47-01.75 (+1.1) on his fourth jump. No one could improve on their final jump.
SP - Mark Lewis (Arroyo Grande) first round effort of 57-11.25 to take the lead. He stayed a couple feet ahead of the pack until the last round. Lewis threw 57-07, but Gabe Long (Esperanza) answered with a 57-11.5 to win.
DT - Mark Lewis (Arroyo Grande) 180-09 on his opener, good enough to win over Michael Singer (Valencia) 171-0 on his fourth and final toss.

Girls Div I
100 - Good start by Shalonda Solomon of LB Poly with the wind +1.1. Time on the finish display a quick 11.35 as she won by a long ways. The time =#10 AT US Hser.
200 - Shalonda Solomon over her sidekick Jasmine Lee with the wind +3.0 mps at 23.21, with the twosome racing off the curve even, and Solomon pulling away to a three meter win.
400 - 25.2 dead even at the 200 Jasmine Lee (LB Poly) and Ashley Freeman (Wilson, LB). Lee strong down the stretch for a 52.85 win over Ashley’s 53.97.

800 - Ashley Freeman leading at 29.4. 62.7 at the 400, with 10 meters over Gabrielle Bournes (LB Poly). At 1:35.8 for the 600 Freeman away from the pack, and looking strong as she raced in at 2:08.73.
1600 - Liza Pasciuto (Muirrieta Valley) added to the field for someone who dropped. Good for the early pace if Liza attends - 35.7 first 200. Pasciuto on the inside and Alison Costello (Esperanza) on the outside through the first lap. 72.2 through the 400, with Brenda Martinez (Rancho Cucamonga) on leader Costello’s soulder. 1:49.6 at the 600. At 2:27.0 at the 800, Costello a 10 meter lead and pulling away. Pasciuto had pulled up to second by the 1000 meter point, some 20 meters back. Costello 3:03.6 at the 1000, and 3:40.4 at the 1200, racing in to a 4:55.26 win.

3200 - Lindsay Flaks (Harvard-Westlake) 5:25.3 leader at the 1600 and then she attempted to push the pace. Alison Costello (Espernaza) moved up and past the last couple of laps on the way to a 10:47.98 time - very strong double!

G3200 Div III - Anne Gustafson (Brea) 10:51.65 - Lindsay Flaks (Harvard-Westlake) 10:54.78 - Christine Jiminez (Granite Hills) 11:11.44

HH - appeared Mackenzie Hill had slight movement up at the gun that did not seem to aid her race, but it was not called back, as she edged away during the contest from teammate Dianna Gooden in a fine 13.95 (+1.0 mps) run with Gooden 14.21.

300mLH - LB Wilson running strong, with Mackenzie Hill suddenly coming to a near stop at hurdle six causing us to hold our breath. Amazingly she responded instantly to get her head back into it and run down her teammate Dianna Gooden and win at 42.36 to 42.70.
400 Re - Great race - Poly and Wilson into the anchor leg together. Solomon edged away on the anchor for a comfortable win. Splits for Poly (care of Karl Steinhoff 12.4-10.8-11.6-10.3) overall right at 45.0. Initially it was announced as an auto-timed 44.50 National Record for Poly, but after about four hours the meet management announced that there would be no official times for first or second, but Poly and Wilson would be forwarded to the State Qualfiying Meet. It appears Poly was about 45.0 hand and Wilson 46.0.
1600 Re - Wilson/Poly - battling down the homestretch leg 1. Wilson 56.6 and 57.0 for Poly. Jasmine Lee broke it open on leg 2 for Poly, with a 53.3! Wilson was 56.2 on leg 2. Poly 57.6 was with Wilson 56.3 on leg 3, with Wilson edging close. It was Shalonda Solomon on the anchor for Poly with Dianna Gooden for Wilson. Shalonda closed down a fine day with a 54.2, with Gooden 55.9 for Wilson, with Poly racing 3:42.03 and Wilson 3:44.99
HJ - Topaz Marcos (Upland) a 5-06 winner over Alisha Thompson (Canyon, CC), Whitney Rasmussen (Quartz Hill), and Liz Cunningham (Arroyo Grande) all at 5-04.
PV
LJ - LB Poly frosh Shana Woods jumped 19-02 (+1.8) on her opening effort to win over soph teammate Seqioya Peggese (18-03.75 +1.6).
TJ - Seqioya Peggese (Poly, LB) sat in 6th at 35-03.25 until her final jump, where she moved into the lead at 37-04 (+1.8 mps wind), with Upland’s Adonica Shaw 37-01w (+2.5 mps) on the event’s final leap to threaten, but end up second behind the Poly soph.
SP - Megan Howard (Arroyo Grande) 46-02.25 - 44-04 and a fine 48-00 (46-00 final toss) to win over teammate Billie Jo Grant (46-05).
DT - Kate Hutchinson (San Clemente) opened up at 160-03 and Billie Jo Grant (Arroyo Grande) ended the first round with a towering 182-06 effort, just short of her 183-06 seasonal best and seeming to put her back in gear for the big championship meets. Hutchinson was 163-06 on her second effort, with Grant 179-02, foul, and 173-07 for her other efforts on a fine day.
