Event 310 Boys 1500 Meter Run Invitational High School

Bill Leung catches the homestretch of the 1500 - Trafeh edges away from Santoyo and Poe

Michael Poe (Etiwanda) did a good job early pacing - 60.9 at the 400 and 2:04.6 at the 800 with a small pack in tow. At 2:53.7 with one to go Poe was working hard, and was 3:09.3, with Mohamed Trafeh immediately moving up at that point and easing past. The Duarte junior looked very strong, with Edgar Santoyo (Mexico) appearing to have enough energy to move close, but he did not.

Event 326 Boys 3000 Meter Run Invitational High School

Manuel Ruiz, turning out to be one of the greatest distance runners ever out of the LA City, always comes to race, out here at 64.5-2:11.7-3:21.4 and 4:31.5 with a pack of six still along, led by Mohamed Trafeh. Canadian Ryan McKay took over after 5 laps at 5:41.8, with 6:52.2 at the end of six laps (just under 69 seconds per lap pace - about 9:15 for 3200). The bell went at 7:27.2 with one to go! Trafeh, with a great 1500 earlier, impressed with his move over the last half lap that held off Antonio Jiminez, who ran the race of his life, with Mohamed 8:32.55 and Jiminez 8:32.85!
