Allyson Felix - 52.26 Open 400 Meter Event - #19 AT US HSer - #10 AT Californian - Phillip Reid leads Manuel Ruiz - Mark Matusak - David Torrence - super 3200

Allyson Felix strides it out during her 23.21 200 win - Lionel Larry cranks 21.10!!!

More Pictures - Page One - Page Two - Page Three

Girls 3200
Laura Meyers (Maranatha) led through a 5:43 first 1600, and held off the pack to win at 11:28.92.

Boys 3200m
67.8 and 2:15.3 for Ruiz (Monroe, Sepulveda) and a group of six - Phillip Red, Matusak, Torrence, and Tyhurst, with Werner (Canyon) along for the early ride. 3:22.9 had a pack of four (Ruiz - Ried - Matusak - Torrence). It was hot, probably into to the mid-80's. 1600 went by at 4:30.6. By the end of the fifth lap (5:40.5) the Loyola athletes fell slightly behind leading Ruiz and Reid. 6:49.9 at six laps and Reid went with 700 meters to go. 7:55.8 with one to go and Reid had broken away. That lap was 65.9. He was 8:26.8 at 3000 meters and 8:58.45 Super job, with Matusak, Torrance, Ruiz all appearing to finish between 9:04 and 9:06.

Girl’s 400 Relay
Wilson (LB) was out well, and continued to stretch their lead to a super 46.19 clocking, with the sense that with perfect passes the group can run in the low 45's. Rancho Cucamonga 48.30 in second, but the 46.19 #2 time state a huge winner!!

Girl’s 400 Relay - Bakersfield and Dominguez came into the anchor leg close, with Thomas Mack sending the Central Section powers out with a few meter lead. Lionel Larry (Dominguez, Compton) flew down the track and came close, with Bakersfield the #2 time in the State in winning at under 42.20.

Girls 800 - great group with Treani Swain and Ashley Freeman up-front. Swain was a no-show entered in a number of events. Freeman led through the 200 at 30.2, with LB Wilson athletes going 1-2-3 at that point. Freeman had pulled away through a 63.2 400, and still led at 1:37.7 at the 600. Ashley raced unpressed to her 2:12.91, with LB Wilson going 1-4 (all sub 2:20 - let's go in the 4x800!!!).

Boys 800 - Bryan Rodie (Royal, Simi) pulled away through a 54.7 400, continued to fly through a 1:23.2 600, and finished at 1:52.89 the State leader!!! Mike Pratt was 1:57.91 in second from Taft (WH).

Girls 100m (R-2) Tara Davis-Quarrie (St. Lucy's, Glendora) who has run 12.11 this season, looked sharp during a 12.37 wind legal run. (R-3) Elizabeth Olear (Louisville, WH) rolled from behind on the way to an 11.88w win, looking very sharp in one of her first big prep efforts as a frosh athlete.

Boys 100m (Inv) - Lionel Larry (Dominguez, Compton) who had a blazing 4x100 relay split early on in the meet purred here, steadily edging away to a fine 10.64 wind legal race, the State leader.

Girls Distance Medley - Rancho Cucamonga winners over Wilson (LB) with a fine 12:40.95 effort.

Girls 100 Meter Hurdles - Maczenzie Hill (Wilson, LB) ended up in lane 1 after a re-seed, and kind of snuck up on us with three races scheduled but cut to two. Anyway, Hill blazed down the track to a 14.03 State Leader wind legal.

Boys 110mHH - Great final race with Thomas Mack, Justin Johnson, and Craig Woods. Mack edged ahead after hurdle #2 and raced away to a comfortable win, state leader 14.18!

Girls 400m - Myra Hasson (Gardena) snuck up in Race 2 to an impressive 55.93 win. Allyson Felix took it out in the Invite race coming by 24.5, 300 was 38.5, with a good effort all the way the finish to finish at 52.26 (#19 All-Time US HSer - #10 All-Time Californian) in her first good effort of the year!!!

Boys 400m - Jeff Jacobs (Santa Margarita, RSM) came into the homestretch with a narrow lead over Mike Pratt of Taft (WH), and Jeff edged away down the homestretch to a fine 48.13 winner.

Girls 200 - somehow Allyson Felix ended up on Lane 2, as we understand she scratched, then wanted back in the event, ending up here in the shuffle. Ashley Freeman false-started in lane 3 first time through and was dq'd (after a great day of 800 and 400 runn ing). Felix really built up off the turn, as it was a bit tough to figure how well she started with no one outside of her for a lane. For the final 150 it was rolling, steadily to a 23.21 winner.

Boys 200m - Lionel Larry (Dominguez) was 10.64 earlier in the day, with great conditions here, warm and calm. Larry cranked the turn, and powered through the straight, cranking to a 21.10 wind legal effort!

Girls 300m Lows - great duel between the mid-42 second hurdlers from LB Wilson Gooden and Hill, with Hill smoothest over the first few flights. Mackenzie had to slow over a couple on the run-in, but finished with an impressive 42.67!
