Rancho Verde Relays

Our first early report on the highlights shows Murrieta Valley had a great day!

Murrieta Valley's girls 4x800 relay “A” team of Bonghabih Shey, Liza Pasciuto, Angela Hill and Kristina Hill ran 9:43.7. The Nighthawks’ “B” squad ran 10:26!

The Murrieta Valley boys “A” team of Kellen Acosta, Ian Ritchie, Jeremy Koeppen, and Francois Maritz ran 8:05 while the “B” team ran 8:22. One of the MVHS “B” kids, Scot Breithaupt, ran 2:00, so with him on the “A” team, they would have been close to sub-8:00. Kellen Acosta ran a 1:57.2 split.

In the girls distance medley relay, Murrieta Valley ran 12:51. Due to illnesses, the team was at partial strength going in.

The boys ran the distance medley relay in 10:46 while not at full strength as Ian Ritchie missed most of the week with the flu. Kellen Acosta ran a 4:27 split. The Nighthawks ran in the 4x400 relays rouhgly 30 minutes after the DMR, with all but one boy having run it. The teams ran 4:10 (girls) and 3:30 (boys).

Kellen Acosta had a 1:57, 4:27, 51.8 day and was named Male Distance Athlete of the Meet. Liza Pasciuto, who has been battling a sinus cold, ran 2:20, 3:50 (1200), and 60.9 and was also named Female Distance Athlete of the Meet.   -- Steve Chavez, Murrieta Valley HS.
