Association of Black Track & Field Coaches All-Comers - Sat - December 21, 2002 - (oops date change on meet results)
pictured from seasons past - Mackenzie Hill (Unat/Wilson, Long Beach - Kirby Lee photo) and Erick Maldonado (Unat/Don Lugo HS, Chino) lead the action in the 1/3/03 Jackie Robinson All-Comers action!! Rancho Cienega Recreation Center - Jackie Robinson Stadium Late December All-Comers action at Jackie Robinson Stadium in Los Angeles on a breezy and cool day had the Wilson (Long Beach) girls running hot while they competed unattached, preparing for a trip in a week back east to a Maryland Indoor affair. The Wilson group cane out cranking, with impressive 200-400 running, with Mackenzie Hill blazing the top performance of the day, a 43.5 300m Low Hurdles effort!! Mackenzie is the #6 returnee in the entire nation for the coming spring in that event with a 42.64 best from last year and 6th at State. Soph Tiana Hood led the 200 group with a 24.6 run, with Hill close behind at 24.7. Mackenzie and Tiana had quite a day, both 7.5 for the 60 meter dash for the day's quickest there also. Wilson appears to have one of the finest hurdle groups back in area history, with at the 100m barrier distance, Hill is back at 14.08, Diane Gooden (who won our "attitude" award for the day for a 2:37.0 800 win (after a 25.9 200) 14.48 (and 42.45 as the nation's #4 300 hurdler back at 42.45 - Hill is #6 at 42.64!), and Tiffany Wright 14.98 (24.8 this day and a 57.3 400!). Erick Maldonado (Unat/ Don Lugo HS, Chino) was 2:02.9 for 800m and 4:27.1 for 1600 meters, with Lugo junior Ruben Ramirez 4:32.0 and 2:03.8. Kyle Weatherspoon, highly thought of wide receiver from Lynwood (6-0 170) was the 60m winner at 6.8, with his team a good early season 43.9 for the 400m relay event. Cool, Breezy and damp day.
