Girls

Northwestern(Miami) wins third state championship after three consecutive
runner-ups. Defending champs and ‘rebuilding,’ Oak Ridge(Orlando) finishes
just 10 points back on the shoulders of several two seniors, three juniors,
two sophomores and three freshman. NW 81.50 OR 71.50

Oak Ridge(Orlando) Sr, Barbara Pierre blazes to a 11.81(+1.0) US #6

Deerfield Beach So, Brittany Jones, scorches 24.04(NWI), US #8 all
conditions, to win 200m as top five go under 25.0. Jones runs US #3 53.48 in
400m prelims then comes back in finals and runs US #5, 53.76!

Palm Beach Lakes Sr, Kettiany Clarke edges Northwestern(Miami) Sr, Pavi’Elle
James in photo finish. Both timed in 13.82(+0.0) US #2. James had streak of
three straight titles broken. Clarke also finished 2nd in LJ, 19-09.00 US #7
all conditions, and 2nd in the 300m H, 43.10.

Northwestern(Miami) SO, Lizzie Harris, wins HJ, 5-08, and wins 300m H in
42.94 US #8

Coral Springs Sr and US #2, Viktoria Andonova did not compete in HJ or TJ
due to knee injury

Colonial(Orlando) Sr, Zarinah Suluki, squeaks out 0.5” victory over Palm
Beach Lakes Sr, Kettiany Clarke, 19-09.50(+2.1) to 19-09.00(+2.2). US #6 and
#7 all conditions. 2nd straight title for Suluki.
Northwestern’s Pavi’Elle James, 19-00.75(NWI), Miami Beach Sr, Katinah
Clermont, 19-00.00(+3.0) also over 19-00 barrier.

Suluki wins TJ too with 39-10(+1.3) effort.

Northwestern(Miami), behind Oak Ridge on final exchange, wins 4 x 100m in US
# 9, 46.89, as Oak Ridge falls.

Oak Ridge cruises to a 3:49.58 win in the 4 x 400m on the strength of two
freshman and two sophomores

Oak Ridge wins 4 x 800m in 9:26.03 with 2:13.8 anchor by frosh Jamia Hutto.
New 4 x 800m state leader. 1st state 4 x 8 title in school history for the
Pioneers. Hutto also finished second in the 1600m, 5:00.61 and won 800m in
2:16.76 coming from way behind.

Oviedo Sr, Jenny Barringer claims second straight 1600m/3200m double in
4:54.29 and 10:36.94 bringing her total number of state championships in
track and field to five.
Cypress Bay frosh, Emilie Amaro, in her first year of running, completes
impressive, 5:01.46/10:49.59 double. Barringer, Amaro and UF signee, Jack
Kruzel of Cooper City, 10:50.22, all go under 11:00 in the same race for the
first time in Florida state meet track history.

Miami Southridge Frosh Zakeya Stinson wins SP with 41-00.50 toss

Boys

Evans(Orlando) wins its first state championship in school history with a
45-40 victory over Norland(Miami). It is the second consecutive team
championship by a team outside the Dade, and Broward county area. Prior to
that, those two counties had won nine straight titles with Dade county teams
claiming six titles and Broward claiming three. Northwestern(Miami) suffers
blow when top sprinter Jeffrey Welch pulls up lame in preliminaries

Norland(Miami) fends off city rival Northwestern to take 4 x 400m title in
US #8 time of 4:14.59. NW second in 3:15.63

Evans(Orlando) slips past Plantation by 0.01s in 4 x 100m relay with their
41.18 US # 8 time. Plantation scores US #9 time with their 41.19

Lely(Naples) Jr, Woodny Pierre-Louis, wins LJ, 23-11(+1.5) US #4, TJ,
48-00(+2.0)

Piper Jr, Joshua Wimberly, runs 47.64 to edge Norland(Miami) Sr Oladipo
Adeshina, 47.68 in 400m

Norland Jr, Mikal Ebanks sprints away in final 100m to win 800m in 1:54.58,
new state leader

Evans Jr, Marcus Postell, wins fast 300m H in 37.72 over defending state
champ,Plantation Sr, Senatus Peterson

Winter Park Sr, Coleman Hoover, makes up four second deficit on Foot Locker
finalist and illness weakened, Justin Harbor, on final lap to win second
straight 1600m title in 4:20.18. Harbor fades to 3rd in 4:24.06 and then
does not start 3200m.

Riverview(Sarasota) Sr, Deaaron Duval wins 110m H in 14.01(-0.5)

Northwestern(Miami) anchor, Chauncey Tompkins, down 4 seconds with 200m to
go scorches 26s last 200m to win 4 x 800m in state best time of 7:47.66.
Colonial(Orlando) takes close second in 7:47.87. US #5 and #6
Northwestern’s splits 1:57, 1:56, 1:59, 1:55
Norland(Miami) lead –off, JR Mikal Ebanks runs 1:52 on opening leg, but team
is DQ’ed.

Oak Ridge Sr, Jamal Whitted clears 6-08

Carol City(Miami) Sr, Ricky Jean-Francois, wins SP, 61-09 and DT, 175-01.
Third staright SP win and second straight DT win.

Winter Park Jr, Caleb Vogt, runs 4:35 last 1600m and 2:14 last 800m to claim
3200m title in personal best of 9:17.53

Girls

St. Thomas Aquinas(Ft. Lauderdale) wins 8th consecutive state title in
school history to move into tie for second for most
state championships and extend it's stranglehold on the consecutive team
championship mark.
Crushes competition by 68 points! 107 St. Thomas Aquinas-39 Fort Lauderdale

Ed White(Jacksonville) SR, Tiara Swanagan breaks state meet record by 11
inches with her 42-08.75(+1.4) effort(US #3),finishes 2nd in
HJ(5-08),and ran 12.81 in the prelims of the 100m.

St. Thomas Aquinas cranks out a US #5 time of 3:44.92 in the 4 x 400m relay.

Vanguard(Ocala) JR, Kelly Parrish, easily wins 1600m in 5:01.34 and then
comes back with a 5:11/5:20 to
break Jenny Barringer's state meet record by four seconds with her 10:31.03.
She also split 2:12 on the
Vanguard's winning 4 x 800m team, 9:32.70

Nova(Davie) Jr, Ashley Dukes sizzles in sprints. 12.18(-0.4) and
24.22(-1.9), US #9 performance.
Atlantic(Delray Beach) JR, Scottesha Miller, finishes 3rd in 100m, 12.30 and
2nd in 200m, 24.59.

St. Thomas JR, Mikaela Green, scorches 54.89

Atlantic JR, Jackie Areson, catches early leader, St. Thomas Aquinas JR,
Kyra Mobley in home stretch to
set new state leader, 2:12.25 to 2:12.57

St. Thomas Aquinas SR, Jenna Utecht claims her fourth straight 100m H title,
14.44(-2.3), by 0.05s, wins the
HJ for the second straight year(5-08) and finishes 2nd in the LJ(18-07.00)

Ft. Lauderdale JR, Deandra Doyley, wins 300m H in 43.20, a new state leader
and finishes second in the
100m H, 14.49.

Raines(Jacksonville) wins 4x 100m in 47.92

Boca Raton JR, Megan Miller jumps 12-00 in PV

Boca Ciega JR Neidra Covington jumps 19-00(+0.7), finishes 2nd in TJ( 41-06,
US #6), and ran legs on
the 4 x 400m(5th, 4:01.96) and the 4 x 100m(3rd 48.71)

Boys

Wolfson(Jacksonville) wins first title since 1997 and third title in school
history with narrow three point victory
over Wharton(Tampa),50-47

Leon(Tallahassee)JR, Justin Terry speeds to US #1 time of 46.59 in 400m and
finishes 6th in 200m, 22.11(-1.0)
East Bay(Gibsonton) Sr, and FAMU commitment, Stanley Suber finishes 2nd in
US # 6 time, 46.89

South Carolina football signee, OJ Murdock( Middleton, Tampa) claims 100m,
10.66(-1.2) US #9, and 200m, 21.32(-1.0)
US #6 double

Forest(ocala) Sr, Glen Fowler wins 110m H in 14.26 into 2.6 wind and then
speeds to US #6 in 300m H, 37.21

4 x 100m US #1 Lincoln(Tallahassee) is DQ'ed in final after running 41.11 in
prelims. Gainesville High races to
41.34(US #9) win after 41.59 prelim(2nd to Lincoln)

Wolfson SR, Roderick Owens, wins TJ(47-10, +0.8),finishes second in 110m
H(14.55,-2.6), finishes 2nd in LJ(23-03,+0.0),
finishes second in 300m H (38.26). Accounts for 36 points.

Ft. Lauderdale Sr, Chris Thomas runs 1:55.52 to edge out
Astronaut's(Titusville) Ethan Philpott 1:55.61 in 800m

Kathleen(Lakeland) SR, Scott Mackley, wins 1600m in 4:15.00 over Vanguard
Sr, Michael Rodriguez, 4:15.06 as both crash to the
track at the finish. Both PR'ed this season by over 16 seconds

Booker T. Washington(Miami) wins 4 x 400m in 3:17.60 with two froshes, one
senior and a junior

Fort Lauderdale speeds to 9 second win in 4 x 800m with a 7:51.36

Wharton Sr, Michael Hunter wins HJ with 6-08 leap

Largo PV, Grant Scelzi wins with 15-00 clearance
