Whittier CA: Bingham UT senior Laura Zeigle shatters
Alison Tubbs' 1-year-old record for 17-year-olds (16:44.81)
by 15 seconds. It was the fourth best HS mark ever behind
the likes of Cathy Schiro 1985, Mary Shea 1979, and
Erin Keogh 1986. Laura had 1600 meters splits of 5:16,
5:20, and 5:15, leaving 38 seconds for the last 200

only 6 seconds behind Laura, but slowed in the last
mile to finish third in 17:02.04. Laura and Jackie are

Another future Buffalo,
Erika Odlaug, joins several
top runners on the sidelines. With her foot still sore
since running for the USA junior team in the World Cross
Country championships in March, the Deerfield IL senior

Despite the foot, Odlaug just won the Illinois state

- Elmira NY sr Molly Huddle
improved on her US#1 times by winning the 1500 in 4:30.6
and the 3000 in 9:33.4 at the Class C district at Binghamton
NY.

Meet managers see 4 US records in jeopardy
in Sacramento Saturday
(Boys 300H, both PV, and girls SP)
"A cool Sacramento evening, the lightning
quick Olympic Trials track at Sacramento State, the finest
High School Track and Field Athletes from across the Nation,
and the chance that close to half a dozen National High
School records could be in danger (some in serious danger)
should make for a spectacular 43rd edition of the Golden

Alan Webb's 4th at NCAA championships
fuels rumors "It's the end of
an incredibly terrible year," Webb told the Washington
Post. Rumors have been running rampant lately that the high
school mile record holder would leave college and turn pro
under his high school coach, Scott Raczko. If he did, the
NCAA 1500 would be his last college race for Michigan. "It
might be," Webb said. "We'll see. I'll have to
decide wherever is the best place for me to be."
