OR Sandy jr Tommy Skipper 17-0.25 PV in his home track Sandy Relays. Skipper got it on his third try and wobbled the bar on his way down. "I didn't think I made it. It was a pretty sketchy jump," Skipper told The Oregonian newspaper.
CO Smoky Hill jr Megan Kaltenbach 4:56.31 1600 meters at 6500 feet altitude in the Pikes Peak Invitational. Kaltenbach is headed to Arcadia next Saturday.

NJ track writer Ed Grant reports that Tawana Watkins, defending national champion in the 400 hurdles, may be out for the season with a back injury. "It could be a stress fracture," Grant said. "She will certainly miss the first month of the season, which means missing Penn for the 2nd year in a row. There is just a chance that she will return in time for our state meet, but, since that begins May
25, a better chance that she will be at Raleigh."

Raider Relays, Garland TX, Mar 28 - North Garland TX senior beats 2001 US#1 DaBryan Blanton in the 100 and 200, aided by a noisy home crowd of 4,000 and a wind that was blowing "significantly" according to reports. "This is the fastest I've ever gone," McCullough told the Dallas Morning News. The best wind-legal marks in US history are 10.13 by Derrick Florence TX in 1986 and 20.13 by Roy Martin TX in 1985. Blanton, who was timed in 10.39 and 20.98, ran 5 days after splitting with Evangel LA sr Jonathan Wade at the Jesuit Sheaner Relays in Dallas. Earlier this season, Wade swept McCullough head to head. KS High School Pole Vaulter Dies
WICHITA KS -- Samoa Fili, 17, Southeast HS pole vaulter, died Monday evening at Wesley Medical Center from injuries sustained in a pole vault accident Saturday 3/30 in the Wichita East Relays. Witnesses said Fili fell onto the safety mat, bounced off and hit the back of his head on the ground. He was conscious when an ambulance arrived but was listed in critical condition at the hospital. OK Kevin Bookout 69-5.5 - the US#1 shot putter in 2001 (71-1.5) took the early season 2002 lead at the 66 Conference meet in Chandler OK. Bookout also had a 193' discus throw.
