2001 wrapup

DyeStat ends coverage of the 2000-2001
school year with a huge statistical feast:

  • DyeStat All-Americans - our first attempt at selecting the best of the best - the most outstanding runners, throwers, and jumpers in America in 2001. The DyeStat All-American team has 39 male and 44 female athletes and relays, plus many more honorable mentions. Season performance lists are given for each All-American.
  • DyeStat Elite - final 2001 outdoor rankings include 5,090 performances - the top 100 athletes in the USA in each event. We had to keep it open this late because many of the best marks of the year came from post-season national meets, Junior Olympics, and international competition. The database ended the season with 9,000 performances from 863 meets.
  • New faces - DyeStat Elite performances by freshmen or younger athletes in 2000-2001. Most are freshmen (class of 2004), but some are even younger. A rising 7th grader, Brandi Cross of Houston TX, tops the list of newcomers in the girls 400! The New Faces lists are a future book for national champions of 2004 or sooner.
  • Top returnees - Who will replace the superstars of 2001? The answer lies in the 1,280 DyeStat Elite performances by undergraduates in 2001. We list the top returnees to 2001-2002, ranked by event, with analysis of the likely national champions.
