Here's how it'll work:

There will be ten 10-person leagues (100 contestants total) in competition. Each contestant will be
given an imaginary bankroll with which to purchase seven members for his/her team. You must
purchase a full team of seven. Every single runner in the state will have a purchase price, with
the top runners going up for grabs at the higher-priced tiers. Since you have a limited bankroll,
it will be up to you to make shrewd decisions on which talent to draft. If you take more than one
athlete from Tier 1 (the top tier), you will not have enough funding to even purchase a full team
of seven, and you would be eliminated (this will be spelled out later). Your "team" will score
points during each designated "major week" within the season (Woodbridge Invitational week,
Stanford Invitational week, Mt. SAC Invitational week, CIF Finals week, etc.). The top performers
from each league in each round will advance to the next round. After each subsequent round,
the top performers keep advancing into the "Champions League" for that round, eventually
leading to the grand showdown at the CIF-State Championships in Fresno in late November!

Who can enter the league:

Anyone is eligible to enter the league, but only the first 100 applicants adhering to the email
deadline will be accepted. Fifteen applicants apiece will be accepted each Sunday in August
(August 8, 15, 22 and 29) starting at 10 a.m.  Once 15 have entered each Sunday, the entires
are cut off. The final 40 entries will be taken at 1:30 p.m. on August 29. "Draft Day" is also
Sunday, August 29 at 4 p.m. (you must be available online and have Instant Messaging
capabilities during the "Talent Draft". If you do not meet these requirements, your team
ownership position will be revoked and someone else will be given your spot on Draft Day.

When's the first step:

Check back on DyeStatCal on Saturday, when we will post more in-depth details. At that time,
we will also post a preliminary cost chart for each runner in the state. You can start deciding the
priority order in which you might "purchase" an athlete. Starting on Sunday, we will begin
accepting entries. We are spreading the entry chances over several weeks, since some
teams will be at camping trips at various points during the month of August. We are trying
to give everyone a fair chance to enter, as we think the interest in this contest will be very high.

How do I score points:

We will track the performances of each of the team members you have chosen during the "key
weekend" meets of the season, giving a course time conversion value in those instances when
picks are on different courses across the state that day. A mock race is then created each Sunday
from that weekend's actual statewide results of Fantasy Team players. Your team score will
determine your fate in the overall contest, and which bracket you move into (details to come).

What's up for grabs:

We haven't finalized this yet, but it will be something good. Given the expertise involved
and the high level of competition, the winner will definitely deserve something very rewarding.

Stay tuned for more!

Note: We have had two individuals (Mark Matusak and Yosef Ghebray) step
forward as commissioners for a boys league. If anyone would like to volunteer
about 90 minutes of their free time each Sunday to be a commissioner for a
girls league, we would be glad to set that one up as well. We will set up the
structure for each league, but do not have the remaining time to commission one.
