Always a lightning-quick starter, CSUN's Manuel Ruiz was the two-mile leader.

Ruiz finished a very impressive fifth in his collegiate debut,
touring the 8-kilometer (5-mile) course in 25:18.

Central Arizona Comm. College

To the surprise of few, it was Central Arizona's
Obed Muntana who made his move in the final
mile en route to winning the race in 24:57.

Central Arizona also has a local on its roster, as recent
Valencia HS (Placentia) standout Juan Robles competed
in front of a throng of supporters from his alma mater.
Robles was a fine 26th overall (99 runners) in 26:29.
