Athletes, Coaches, and Parents, please keep Eugene Kim of Huntington Beach HS in your prayers!

During the sweepstakes race last night (ed - at Woodbridge Invite), Eugene was hit in the back by a light post near the baseball field which broke off during the first loop. Eugene just had surgery to repair the damage. He is still day to day and we ask that you all keep him in your prayers! Eugene suffered damaged to his L2 and the shattering of his L1 along with major nerve damage. Eight screws and two titanium rods were placed in his spine today and at this time the doctor feels that the surgery was a success. To say the least, Eugene who is one of our top runners will not run again this season and may never run again...

Eugene's mom, sister and the Huntington Beach XC team and coaches are having a very difficult time coping with this and to be perfectly honest, I'm not very motivated to even continue with this season. Eugene is one of the nicest and most caring kids I have ever coached and a very motivated individual who had very lofty goals for this season. We will find a way to cope and I ask that you would please keep him your thoughts.

If anyone would like to send any well wishes, please send them to:

Thanks.
