Long Beach Wilson - a couple of fabulous transfers for Track and Field!!

Carol Rodriguez (Dave Casper photo) - DeAna Carson - will be wearing LB Wilson uniforms in 2004!!

It appears that two of the top returning prep tracksters in the greater Southern Section, DeAna Carson (Vista del Lago, Moreno Valley) and Carol Rodriguez (Western, Anaheim), have transfered to Long Beach Wilson HS for the coming track and field season. With the appearance of super middle-schoolers Ebony Collins and Shelise Williams on Coach Terry Kennedy's team for the next few years, it appears his squad is in super shape after a number of 2003 graduations.

Rodriguez, who placed third in the State Meet over 100m and 6th over 200 meters (11.66 and 24.22/23.72w bests), is thought of as one of the nation's top sprinters who could certainly stretch it out for a fine 4x400 leg, with Carson 7th in State in the 100m Hurdles, and a Finalist in the Long Jump event--DeAna had bests of 11.85 100m/14.35 100mH/19/07 LJ (achieved indoors with flats on).

Obviously we are setting up for another super winter and spring track and field seasons, with Poly (Long Beach), North (Riverside), Logan (Union City), and Merrill West (Tracy) all appearing to have super groups!
