Just a frosh from Woodbridge HS in Irvine, Amy's bio on the Principia College web site does not include a significant running background, but rather the following information:

Amy Aleshire -

Class: Freshman
Major: Business Administration
Hometown: Irvine, CA
High School: Woodbridge High School
This petite red-head might be seen charging down the soccer field, making cookies in a cute apron, playing a Mozart piece on the piano, or careening along rugged trails on her mountain bike. But Amy’s love for running has landed her on the cross country team this fall – a brand new sport for her.

Amy’s only racing experience to date comes from her debut in the Denney Creek Run this summer, a 17-mile race in the Colorado Rockies that begins at 9,000 feet and climbs to 12,500 feet, before going back down. Amy set a new women’s record of 2 hours and 17 minutes, smashing the previous women’s record of 3:03 and finishing only two minutes behind the all-time record of 2:15.

Amy is eager to work hard and express God to her fullest capability this season.

Yes, I think we would all agree that she did an adequate job in her new first love, with her 6th place and the first frosh finisher quite stunning for the first year star. She had some interesting results along the way, including the conference meet, where she won, was picked as the "newcomer of the year" and the "conference runner of the year." Amazing!!
