AAF 2004 Winter Track & Field Coaching Clinics - 1/10 & 2/7 Level 1 - 1/24 Advanced

12/04/04

The AAF track and field coaches clinic program will return even bigger and better in 2004 with three great track clinics that will once again be free for all coaches thanks to the sponsorship of the Amateur Athletic Foundation of Los Angeles..

There will be two Level 1 clinics—one held on January 10, at Mt. SAC and another one on February 7, at Westview High School in the Poway area of San Diego. There will also be one advanced clinic held on January 24, 2004 at Mt. SAC.

The AAF track clinics have been extremely well received by the more than 1500 coaches who have attended in the past two years because they not only cover all track and field events from beginning to advanced levels but they also offer numerous sessions on everything connected with being a successful high school coach including organization, recruiting, warm-up, plyometrics, weight training, and a host of other areas.

Brooks Johnson, former Olympic coach and currently the director of the USA Track & Field High Performance Program and USOC Training Center, will deliver the keynote presentation at the Advanced Level Clinic at Mt. SAC on January 24 discussing the “Critical Zone” concept in all events.

There will also be presentations at the advanced clinic covering all specific aspects of training for all track and field events.

At the two basic Level 1 clinics, coaches will be able to choose beginning and intermediate sessions on every track and field event area as well as other presentations on how to build and manage a successful high school track and field program.

Coaches can get additional information regarding clinic speakers and schedules and also register for one or all three clinics by going to the AAF web site at www.aafla.org and selecting Coaching Education.

Coaches who pre-register will receive a complete updated clinic agenda, directions to the clinic, and will receive a free gift on the day of the clinic.

Coaches who do not pre-register can sign-up on the day of the clinic at each site beginning at 7:30 AM.
